more I've read this book easily twenty times despite the fact that the I go back and forth between despising and applauding the author. I'd read her book of essays ("Telling") and thoroughly enjoyed it, then had seen a magazine column and thought I recognized Marion Winik in the accompanying photo....standing with a man who didn't resemble at all the husband about whom she'd written peripherally in the essays. I did a little research and a few days later, "First Comes Love" arrived for me via ILL (it was the day before Halloween. I propped the book open and read most of it while making a bat costume for my daughter Sarah, who was in kindergarten) and I had a new book to add to my favorites. You can't help but be affected by this book: negatively, positively...it makes you think and feel and really is a "must read," if I may use such a vulgar term.
