This is the second book of Murakami's that I've read. They've both been very evocative, melancholy, introspective stories. At many points one suspects that large fractions of the plot have only occurred in the protagonist's head. I'm likely to read more Murakami in the future, if only to try to figure out whether I'm missing some key element that unlocks the story and takes it to another...more

I had never heard of Murakami until I saw him listed as a favorite by many of my facebook friends. It was a pure coincidence that the same day I noticed several of his books in our office's library.
