I loved this book. It's actually quite a romance as well as being literary. Only disappointment was that I was expecting the numbers to have some greater meaning like the diary entries in Midwives did. But they didn't.

I started reading this book, and although Bohjalian is a fave author, I had trouble "getting into" this book. To be fair, I think the problem was that it was the 1st book I tried to read after completing the Twilight Saga, and the story line was sooo different, I just had trouble adjusting. This book remains in my library and I plan on re-starting it at some time in the near future.

I think that it's interesting that the author, a man, is much better at writing in the voice of a woman than he is a man. I've read Midwives and The Double Bind, both of which are written from a woman's perspective. The Law of Similars is written in a male voice, and somehow, I just didn't feel that he was all that convincing.

This book was okay. It was a very slow read for me. Hard to get into it.

good, but not as good as some of his other work... I miss the twist he always adds to the end, it wasn't there.

Not my cup of tea. Overwrought prose and an implausible plot. The tender father and daughter scenes save it from a one star book. Overly dramatic and implausible. The sincere relationship between the narrator and his daughter is the only redeeming factor.

Chris Bohjalian - I usually tend to like female authors more but really like his writing.

In this story an attorney falls in love with a homeopathic doctor and finds himself in a bind when she is accused of impropriety in the death of a client. I had a hard time getting into this book and I was not particularly engaged in the plot or the characters. It does get a bit better in the second half when Clarissa is questioned about her role in a death, but some of the decisions made by the...more
