I loved this book, but I think the key is setting your expectations.  I may not have learned a lot of information that I'll retain, but I had a great time reading.

Gleick's writing is literary but very engaging.  In a meta way, he writes very short chapters, appropriate for our modern attention spans.

I like the fun, insightful look Gleick takes at us and our relationship to time.  I picked up this book on a whim--having read Chaos way-back-when.  It seemed to be a 'quick read' which should make James happy.
