While slow at parts, the character interactions are generally interesting. Lots of romance and heartbreak, with some mystery thrown in.

Not as good as Adam Bede in my opinion, but still a great work. What makes it unique is the way in which Eliot conveys the interdependent emotions and actions of an entire community. The character development is phenomenal. Because of that, I find it odd that so much emphasis is ordinarily placed on Dorothea Brooke as the main character of the story, when so many of the other characters are as...more
