This book was awesome. I could honestly relate to the story. The author was an immigrant from Ireland. I was sobbing the whole time I was reading it. It reminds me so much of my past and being an immigrant and all. I love this book...love it so much that I owned it. I must of read it so many times.

Couldn't finish it. The mother made me so angry that she would put up with all that crap for so long.

I loved the story, despite the overall sadness and the horrible impacts to the family resulting from the father's alcoholism, Francis' perspective throughout was precious. The humorous aspects were a welcome contrast to the doom and gloom and I literally laughed out loud a few times. I highly recommend this book.

What a heart wrenching story.... I would recommend it to anyone who likes to read, but I'm not sure I'd be reading this one again. It's too painful.
