I don't think I've ever jumped up and down after receiving a book. Usually I'm just like "cool the book is out," I started reading the book at around 1:00 after the day it came out. (i stupidly ordered it from Amazon instead of going to Borders) After running after my crazy friend to give me my book back I sat down and started reading. I didn't stop. The book is really a page turner!!! Graduation happened for Bella, and for the first book you weren't at Forks high school a lot. I liked that, seeing as how a lot of us are growing up and are going through some of the same changes as Bella (College Applications, deciding where to live the next year, and trying to get away from overbearing parents) The only thing that she has is wanting to become a vampire to be with Edward forever. The passion between her and Edward is very intense in this book. She's wanting to go further, and Edward is to afraid to hurt her says no. Instead he proposes again, and they want to go to Vegas to get married. Alice objects and like the party planner she is starts to plan their wedding. Bella thinks that everything is under control until..... Jacob Black comes back. Her best friend. She'd thought that everything would be fine once Edward returned in New Moon. After she realized she wasn't dreaming any more, her life got back to normal. Only she missed Jacob. Edward changes in this book. He starts to trust Bella more, and lets her hang out with Jacob. I guess he gets tired of her sneaking off to be with him. After all who wouldn't be safe if they're surrounded by a bunch of GOOD wearwolvs? Alice only worries because she can't see Bella when she goes to La Push. Once Jacob finds out that Bella is going to be turned into a vampire soon after graduation, he's not happy. He does everything in his power to make it so it won't happen. He even kisses her and tells her that he loves her, (this is after we find out Jacob is really 25 and not 16 so Bella no longer feels that he's too young for her) The first time she objects, and hits him while afterward breaking her hand. This part in the book was just amazing. Of course they kiss again towards the end because Bella realizes that she also loves Jacob. She chooses Edward. After this entire trilogy why wouldn't she? Jacob is a great guy too and he can be there for Bella in different ways that Edward can't, but they soon stop fighting and start protecting the girl they love. This book was sooo good and I'm sure I'll be reading it again and again until Breaking Dawn comes out.    hide

If you haven't kept up with Stephenie Meyer's hot new series, here's a brief synopsis: Isabella Swan (Bella) moved from Phoenix, Arizona to the rainiest place in America, a small town in Oregan by the name of Forks. All of a sudden she's more popular than she's ever been in her life, which helps when she meets the hottest guy in school, Edward Cullen. There's something weird about him, though, which clears up when she discovers that he's a vampire. They fall in love anyway, but Bella is put in danger when another vampire decides to go after her. In the second book, Edward breaks up with her, which pretty much breaks her mind into tiny little pieces. While she's recovering from that, she makes a best friend, Jacob, who turns out to be a werewolf. Jacob is pretty much in love with her, but she hasn't gotten over Edward yet, and it looks like she never will. Werewolves and vampires being mortal enemies, this is a great source of tension. In the third book, it's Bella's senior year, and she's got choices far more important than college coming up. Like what to do about Jacob now that she's back with Edward, or how to deal with the vampire that's still out to get her. If only everyone weren't so darned concerned for her safety, she could nobly sacrifice herself and keep everyone from their favorite pastime - saving Bella from dying. Eclipse was good. Stephenie Meyer writes characters that not only think, but agonize over decisions lesser beings would make in a snap. I really love the minor characters, because you can tell that they are themselves, and not dependent on the main characters for a life. But am I the only one who sees the similarity in writing style between these three books and fanfics? It might be the heroine who is a trouble-magnet and clumsy, but still manages to get the perfect boyfriend. It might be the vampire who is not only a 'vegetarian', but just about perfect or beyond perfect in every way a human can be. Perhaps it's the guilty feeling that the author is giving me exactly what I want. Whatever it is, it will be interesting to the future books of this relatively young author, and see in which direction her writing goes.   hide

Yes, Jacob is a better match for Bella. As Jacob says, he would be healthier. Like oxygen, like the sun... not a drug. Yes, he's a jerk. Yes, he's pushy. Yes, he's annoying. And hell yes, it surprised me a whole lot when Bella admitted to herself that she was in love with him. But you know what? For that split second, when she said he was right, he had always been right... I hoped. I hoped that she would love him, that they would spend the rest of time together... Similar to the flash-forward she had. Heres why... Jacob is only human. I love him so much because... he's so much more REAL. Edward, seems to be so.. artificial. Bella's love for Edward is nearly unnatural. It's rash and unexplained. That is why she is torn from Jacob, because Edward is something entirely different. He is a drug. She is hopeless in his arms. But Jacob, their love for each other is real. You can see it, you can feel it.. When you read about it, you can almost taste the sincerity of it. Stephenie Meyer is an amazing author, that she had the bravery to put that out there. It hurt so, so, so bad to read it. It ripped my heart out. But thats what made it so good. I felt like it was me. Wow, am I ranting. Well... one last hope, for those of us JacobxBella lovers... What if once Bella is turned into a vampire, Jacob imprinted on her then? Wouldn't that be crazy? I'd die. In happiness, perhaps... Maybe. Oh and I just need one thing understood... I do like Edward. And my feelings are that I do not want him unhappy, but I want Jacob unhappy less. I wish that Edward, not Jacob... had never come into the picture. That Bella could be happy with Jacob, and that Edward wouldn't have to suffer. As much as I want Jake and Bella together, I don't know how it can happen now with Edward in the way. Unless somehow... he was out of the way...   hide

I really enjoyed this book. It wasn't as good as Twilight and it was better than New Moon. Don't get me wrong I love Jacob, but I don't love him with Bella. Jacob trying to get Bella to choose him got a little old after a while. I love the friendship that he and Bella share, but I dont't really feel romantic chemistry between these two characters. I however feel it between Bella and Edward. I absolutely love Edward. He's just such a great character and he and Bella have excellent romantic chemistry that just radiates off the pages. Stephenie Meyer has done a wonderful job with this series. I'm not going to compare it to Harry Potter because too me they are two totally different series, but I would have to say that it would fall into the category of a MUST READ right after Harry Potter. Both the Twilight Series and Harry Potter series draws in readers, they are classified as children's books or teen books and neither on reads like either classification. I'm 25 and I absolutely love both series. So to get down to it. Eclipse is fabulous and I cannot wait until the next book.    hide
