The language and stories that made Angela's Ashes and to a lesser extent 'Tis so good were lacking if not completely absent in Teacher Man. Maybe it was because many of the stories seemed too similar to stories told in the previous two books or maybe it was because I felt as if I was not reading the same author's story. I managed to barely get through the book before I placed it back on my bookshelf where it will most likely remain for years.
