Excellent book. Her writing is as good as her Meet The Press appearances. This book gives an insightful look into the politics behind the scenes of the Lincoln Administration and the process by which a war caused by slavery, but initially explicitly fought to purely defend the Union, became a war to end slavery and create a stronger Union.
