First book of Clive Barker's I have read, but I did enjoy it. The content is very strange and devious and rather dark, which is my favorite style of mine. Cabal is a collection of short stories by author Clive Barker. The first couple stories are tied together in a highly compelling fashion, and finish in a way that makes it seem a resolution will come later. Unfortunately, the promise is never followed through on, and the other short stories, while good, are not of the same quality as the beginning of the book.

The whole idea of creatures living under the ground as a some kind of a cult, is really facinating. I really liked the way that book was written, full of twists and turns. In my edition of the book, there were also 3 short stories from the Books of BLood - one of them - 'The Last Illusion' was incredible.

Made into the pretty awful film 'Nightbreed', this was Barker's first novel after 'A Hellbound Heart.' Even if it does feature too much graveyard cliche, from what I can remember, still highly readable.
