Crime and Punishment made a surprise leap onto my favs list, though of all my favs I've had the least success passing on my passion to my friends. Maybe it's been misrepresented as too much of a classic and not enough of a dark, psycho-thriller, because even though it doesn't have "slasher gore" or whatever defines a psycho-thriller these days, the entire premise is creepy...
more Crime and Punishment made a surprise leap onto my favs list, though of all my favs I've had the least success passing on my passion to my friends. Maybe it's been misrepresented as too much of a classic and not enough of a dark, psycho-thriller, because even though it doesn't have "slasher gore" or whatever defines a psycho-thriller these days, the entire premise is creepy and extremely internal...and I enjoyed it thoroughly. I enjoyed walking step by step through the processes in Raskolnikov's head, knowing all the while that he was wrong but walking beside him all the same, and then seeing his redemption at the end in all its simplicity and yet healing. I must confess that I probably enjoyed his character so much because I can relate in an odd way to a lot inside his head, mainly the depression, but also his processing style. TMI, eh?
