not as good as The Kite Runner in my opinion, because it was painful from beginning until the end..

Opened my eyes to the hardships for women in other countries. Touching. I was thinking of this story all the time! I would recommend highly.

I just couldn't stop reading it.. Very fascinating, very realistic like - why are the women and the children always the first to suffer? I was stunned, and I must admit: I cried a lot during this book, it was just too much pain for me. I'm not really sure what to think about islam: I generally think religion is almost every time somewhat bad, but still I can't help wondering...more

I just couldn't stop reading it.. Very fascinating, very realistic like - why are the women and the children always the first to suffer? I was stunned, and I must admit: I cried a lot during this book, it was just too much pain for me. I'm not really sure what to think about islam: I generally think religion is almost every time somewhat bad, but still I can't help wondering how much everything depends on the people who are on charge (like in this book, there were times when women could work and they didn't have to wear burqa). Just fantastic: tells a tragic story of two women, but at the same time reveals something about this culture. I can't do anything but recommend this to everyone.   hide

This a GREAT book... Khaled Hosseini is an awesome story-teller.

From the first page, I couldn't put this down and ended up reading this on vacation in 2 days. It is an exceptional story and made me craving for more about this very different culture.
