So, I finally found something to read that was non-Buffy/Angel. I have to say, while I love Buffy and Angel, I loved this book. The book is called Last Summer by Michael Thomas Ford. The book is about several gay characters, and it is by a gay author. So, I don't know if any straight person will appreciate it, but it is a great book.

The book is about several different characters. The central character of the book is Josh. At the start of the book, Josh is heading to Providencetown to get away from New York and his cheating boyfriend of eight years. When he gets there, he meets a lot of different people.
Jackie is a lesbian who is turning forty, and she is recently single. She is also trying to figure out what to do with her life.
Emmeline is a transvestite who takes in a wandering gay teenager, Toby, who is trying to discover himself.
Reid is a movie producer who is trying to keep his relationship with movie superstar Ty a secret.
Reily and Donna are a soon-to-be married couple, but Reily is having a different thoughts after meeting someone.
Devin is an evil bitch. Plain and simple. And yet I enjoy her character.
Marly is an in charge of an Art House, and she is having a midlife crisis. She believe the cure may be in the form of a famous photographer named Garth.
This book has been compared to Armistead Maupin's Tales of the City. I even thought the same thing as I was reading the book. There are many storylines going on at once, but it is great. It reminds me of a soap opera, but then again, anything with more than one gay character is melodramatic. Case-in-point: Queer as Folk.
Anyway, this a fast read, and I loved it. If you are gay, read it. If you support gays, read it. If you hate gays and think they deserve eternal damnation....well, go try and screw yourself with a chainsaw.
