I agree with the other reviews. Sanderson's different style of writing was the first thing that struck me, but after a while I got used to it. I thought that sometimes his style was...well kind of unnecessary because he used it in the character's speech as well and that didn't fit, but on the whole he did really well and even though the characters spoke a little differently from time...more
 I agree with the other reviews. Sanderson's different style of writing was the first thing that struck me, but after a while I got used to it. I thought that sometimes his style was...well kind of unnecessary because he used it in the character's speech as well and that didn't fit, but on the whole he did really well and even though the characters spoke a little differently from time to time, the characters were still the same. 
I really enjoyed reading the book. I have no clue how much came from Robert Jordan and how much from Brandon Sanderson, but it doesn't really matter. 
The only thing I noticed...which is not a bad thing and which didn't lessen the fun I had in reading this book...was that a lot of things were much more predictable that in the books before (for me). I don't know if that is just because I know the characters much better now than I used to or because I kind of know what to expect from the story, but there were many things I thought would happen or I thought should happen (with that I mean that I kept thinking and yelling in my head at the characters to do certain things and then eventually they did). Even though, there were still enough things that were absolutely shocking to me...
I can't really say which books of the series are my favorites because I read all of them (except for this one) one after the other and for me it's just one big story. And this book fits into the story perfectly. Sanderson really did do Jordan's story justice.   hide

After Robert Jordan died, I wondered if the one, continuing this great and wonderful series, would be able to finish it in an acceptable fashion. And after reading I can say: seamlessly. This book has the same feel to it, as the first eleven books. Good story development and you still sympathize with all the characters.

It is a real page turner. I finished in no time. The rhythm and speed of Brandon Sanderson writing is considerably faster then Robert Jordan. Robert Jordan, who took his time (11 books is taking your time) for story and character development, and I love him for it. I am looking forward to the last two books. Happy reading.   hide

ok, kudos to robert Jordan for beginning to tie up the series. Sanderson on the other hand, has a lot of growing to do before he's ready to step into the roll as narrator of the wheel of time. He's made subtle changes to main characters that shouldn't have been made, and I'm convinced he did it for lack of experience in writing that character's perspective. I know it was his first try, and the writing got better as the book developed, but he claims that WoT is his favorite fantasy world... how does he not know what the characters sound like/think like?   hide

Awesome book! I was a little scared that with the death of Robert Jordan the story would never get concluded. I didn't think I was ever going to get to read this book. Mr. Sanderson did a jam-up job making it difficult to see the differences in his and Mr. Jordan's writing styles, not to say that they aren't there. 
It's been a long time since I was able to read an 800 page book in less than 30...more

This is the one we've been waiting 20 years to read! Easily the 3rd if not 2nd best of the series (Eye of the World is the best for me). Sanderson does an outstanding job of continuing Jordan's epic, many times not slowing down the story with the details we love from Jordan but are so frustrating when 800 pages hardly move the story. I saw none of the shortcomings others have discussed with his...more

Sanderson does an outstanding job of continuing Jordan's epic, many times not slowing down the story with the details we love from Jordan but are so frustrating when 800 pages hardly move the story. I saw none of the shortcomings others have discussed with his writing vs Jordan's own. The characters still retain their personalities and quirks without too many wordy descriptions of things we already know and have known for several volumes. There were slow spots but the story built and advanced chapter after chapter with very few.

I’d have a hard time picking out any plot points to discuss here. With somewhere in the neighborhood of 10,000 pages in the series, there’s just nothing to focus on is a short review. If you read one fantasy novel this year, make it this one. If you haven’t read any of this series, get started now. The last 2 books will be out in no time at all and it promises to be one hell of a ride.   hide

Egwene was amaaaaaaaaaazing
Verin made me cry

But i was kinds of Upset that Mat didnt appear alot, though im sure that next book will be mostly about him *i hope*

Most people didn't know who Brandon Sanderson was when he was picked to finish this monstrous series. Well no one has delusions about him anymore. My favorite book, period. Brandon Sanderson took everything I enjoyed about the Wheel of Time series and supercharged it! He succeeded at keeping life in the characters and the world Robert Jordan had created. I could tell it wasn't RJ writing all of this book; but he (Brandon) was able to keep this volume from feeling like a fanfic. Personally, I didn't miss RJ's writing...more
 My favorite book, period. Brandon Sanderson took everything I enjoyed about the Wheel of Time series and supercharged it! He succeeded at keeping life in the characters and the world Robert Jordan had created. I could tell it wasn't RJ writing all of this book; but he (Brandon) was able to keep this volume from feeling like a fanfic. Personally, I didn't miss RJ's writing style. Brandon's felt similar to RJ's, yet still his own. (comparing it to his Mistborn trilogy) 
This also felt like a complete book, not a chunk from a larger book. I'm looking forward to finishing the series! This was well worth the wait!   hide

I was initially wary of Sanderson's writing - some parts of his style just felt off, like the slightly less formal language, and the characterization of Mat - but by the time I was a third of the way through, I was hooked.

 Certainly one of the fastest based of the Wheel of Time books, this book (well, along with Knife of Dreams) began tying up the story. I was initially wary of Sanderson's writing - some parts of his style just felt off, like the slightly less formal language, and the characterization of Mat - but by the time I was a third of the way through, I was hooked. 

I think Sanderson managed to do Jordan's story justice. He wasn't trying to imitate him, but in general, he kept true to the feel of the plot and the characters. Well done, and extremely enjoyable.   hide

It's back!  The Wheel of Time that we all knew and loved from the first 5-6 novels has returned. Brandon Sanderson does not disappoint, my friends. The Wheel of Time is in good hands. After a few chapters I honestly didn't even notice or even think about the fact that Sanderson wrote much of this novel. You can't tell where one author stops and the other takes it up.  It's back!  The Wheel of Time that we all knew and loved from the first 5-6 novels has returned. Brandon Sanderson does not disappoint, my friends. The Wheel of Time is in good hands. After a few chapters I honestly didn't even notice or even think about the fact that Sanderson wrote much of this novel. You can't tell where one author stops and the other takes it up. This book has some of the best and most emotional scenes from the entire series. Finally after a 3-4 book lull the story has taken up and I am glad to find that it was well worth the effort. IMO Brandon Sanderson has assumed the mantle of Jordan, Tolkien, and the other fantasy greats, though he does it in a modern-feeling way that is so understandable and relevant, it makes you wonder why nobody else writes like this. I can't wait for the last two books!   hide
