I don't normally go for collections of short stories; they're too disjointed and rarely have enough time to develop a character I love.  de Lint, however, created a magical, wonderful world with many characters who pop up in one another's stories, making it much more like a full novel told from the viewpoint of many.

I'd been looking for a new author to satisfy my vivid imagination, and I am happy to say that Charles De Lint caught me hook line and sinker! and i believe that if your looking to enter the world of Urban Fantasy via the streets and alleyways of Newford, 'Dreams Underfoot' is the book to start with.

A good collection of short stories for any fan of Charles De Lint's Newford universe from over the years.  However, many stories are ideas rather than plots and narrative structure.  I enjoy reading exercises of imagination and enjoyed this work.
