Mostly this is just a documentary of how the original book came to be, it's literally the letters to and from the publisher during the conception of the book, the first half is the original short story, which is rather interesting to read as it has character names and locations in non-familiar places, and there is some commentary on where the story came from. I would only recommend this to real fans of the books and not to the casual reader. It's a big fan piece if anything.   hide

I knew Steve was Jed. I could have written a little better ending. Eight CD's worth of weaving and one final disc of "it's over, end of story." It was a bit of a disappointment.

So far not as well written as Frank Herbert original series. I understand that it was written as a collabrative effort but it still lacks something.

An interesting compilation of Dune-related literature.

If you like the Dune Series and wanted to know more about it, this is a good read. It has a lot of interesting content and some ideas of where things might yet go.
