While the subject was interesting, I found the book on whole to be poorly organised, repetetive, and much too "punny".

Slightly repetetive at times (when your book deals with 26 relatively similar histories, it's hard to avoid), but other than that, quite a good read. Not too dry in tone, and really quite fascinating. I learned a lot. Warning, though: as he explains the mechanics of how certain sounds are produced, you may find yourself making those sounds yourself to see, which makes you kind of look like an...more
