This is the best cookbook I've ever read! The recipes are great, but the history and photos are even better. This is the kind of book that's great to sit down and read while drinking a mug of warm Mexican hot chocolate. A must have for an Texan or wanna be Texan. Warning...you will get hungry.

Part cookbook, part history book, this is an interesting and informative look at the history of Mexican cuisine in Texas. If you're a history nut at all, you'll love this. The recipes aren't always ones that are still popular in Texas today, but reflect what used to be popular at various times in the state's history. It gave me ideas for things to try while I was in Texas, and I can't wait to try...more
