Haven Kimmel has a brilliant knack of being able turn a sentence on a dime, leaving you surprised where it ends up.The second time I read it, I was able to see just how thoughtful and observant Kimmel is as a writer. Her subtle descriptions of events skillfully walk the line between describing them as a child would have seen them, and with the more knowing eye of an adult.
