I thought it would be more descriptive, but an interesting read and you really get to know Billie's personality.

This was a interesting read. it went about 100 pages before anything was mentioned about her habit and it was touched on. During her lifetime things in the music industry were vastly different than now. How music was made, the famous well known musicians and movie talent people you worked with on the fly, impromptu and the law regarding drugs, licenses, work, etc...

Billie was a tough cookie. She sings so calmly and sweetly.... but she's got fire and spunk. It's a good way to learn a little bit about the background of some of her songs and a great way to learn about musicians you may not have listened to before. like teddy wilson, gene krupa, lionel hampton, helen ward, chu berry, harry james, roy eldridge, charlie shavers, lester young, benny webster,...more

I love Billie Holiday and all things artistic, retro and glamorous....I admire her tenacity to be a survivor...although she succumbs to her demons...

An easy follow of the life of Billie Holiday, according to Ms. Holiday. I definitely want to read other biographical accounts of her life. This auto-biography is very one-sided, but I appreciate it for her perspective on/in life.
