more The Ramsey family has the adventure of a lifetime while living as American ex-patriots in France for four years. Rebecca, in her delightful memoir, really brings you into her often confusing foreign world. Customs, etiquette, fashion, personal space, child rearing ... it's all very different from the American south. The very best parts of the book are her interactions with her neighbor Madame Mallet, who alternately torments and adores her. I lived next to an old woman so much like her, so I really identified with this part of the story. A good read, particularly for a Francophile!
