This book gives you a very indepth look into the polgamist culture and lifestyle. It was sad to see how emotional and mentally abused the women are as well as the demented beliefs the men are raised to accept about the women in their lives. I am sure there are quite a few good polygamist rlationships but I believe for the most part the belief in polygamy is being abused. Many thanks to Carolyn...more

Different sociological segments such as polygamy sects fascinate me. This book portrays one person's experience and was really a good read.

This was a very good book about the FLDS (Fundamental Latter Day Saints). Carolyn Jessop was married when she was a child to a man who had several wives, tons of children and a whack-ass opinion of the roles of women and children in our society. Mrs. Jessop escaped, with her children, from this horrible life. It's nearly impossible to believe that crap goes on the our country.

Very interesting read. The FLDS members mentioned in this book are not the least bit Christian in their words, actions or deeds... ESPECIALLY Warren Jeffs. This woman offers incredible insight into the FLDS cult. Fascinating! It's amazing that this woman was able to realize how terribly she was being treated, given how she was brought up. You won't believe some of the things Warren Jeffs...more

This was a fascinating book. Not only was it well written, but it provided an in depth insight into the community. I had known that there were some issues within them but had never known just the extent that the women went through. She is a wonderful courageous lady and I'm glad to have read her story.

To think that these conditions actually exist today in the United States gives one pause. Women as second class citizens? I think not!

The book itself is a very smooth write. The flow just wouldn't let me put it down. It's an insight to a cult-like world that we aren't usually allowed to know about. She breaks free from Polygamy, but it was extremely challenging. I won't add to this for fear of spoiling it for a possible reader. Carolyn Jessop is a woman to be respected in our time and...more
