more I was touched by so many parts of this book. Was this a love story, a book about illness, caregiving, parenting, step parenting, our relationship with our parents, or grief? All of them. I lost a husband to chronic illness. The chapters and passages discussing this were so true to life, I re-lived those moments as if they were yesterday. Many of the spiritual passages were also almost exactly what happened to my late husband. I wish I'd had this book 12 years ago.
I recd this as an early reviewer, and I almost didn't believe it was a memoir. It was lyrical, but realistic. Having had a chronically ill husband, I can tell you the passages as his illness progressed could not have been more touching. It brought it all back, but expressed in such an eloquent manner....It was a pleasure to read this, and it will live with me for a long time.
