more Man! The supermarket can be a scary place. I knew about the hormones in the meat and dairy products, I knew about the pesticides in fruit and veggies, so I was congratulating myself on going semi-organic and figured I was doing ok. Well boy was I naive! I never knew that artificial colors were linked to hyperactivity in children, and I think of all those times I served bright-orange Goldfish crackers in my classroom! I also had no idea that pesticides were being genetically engineered INSIDE the corn, nor that most soy in the U.S. is also genetically engineered...and if you've ever seen the documentary "King Corn" you'll know that corn is almost EVERYWHERE these days. (So is soy.) The book explains a lot, in plain, everyday language, and not only does she ask the questions that all Moms should be asking, she digs and digs until she finds answers. And a lot of the answers are not pretty. She also has some good suggestions on how to make simple, healthier, changes in your kids' diet without breaking the bank or making you feel like a dorky granola hippie. Read this and then read "What To Eat" by Marion Nestle for more ideas on how to avoid the chemicals that U.S. Corporations are feeding us. (And don't look to the FDA, because most of them are former employees of those corporations.)
