The Barbarian Way: Unleash the Untamed Faith Within

Erwin McManus wasn't raised in a Christian home, so when he came to Christ as a college student, he didn't know the rules of the "religious club." He...more

McManus' call for abandoning oursleves to Christ in following Him is wonderfully challenging and accessible. All in our all out. Sometimes I felt he overstates the relationship with barbarianism and following Christ-but the idea of Christianity as a reckless pursuit of Him, a relentless love of Him, and trusting Him in all things and at all times is wonderfully refreshing. Love deeply. Follow...more

Well... I don't heart that the listing for this book is spelled wrong, but what can you do? However, I do love this book. I read it in one sitting flying from Atlanta to Southern California. For one thing, reading this book is like going to Starbucks with Erwin McManus and chatting. It is such an easy read. But it was also a challenging read- driving me to leave the comfort zone of my...more

Did you know Jesus drove an ATV on uncharted paths? Hop on and hold on! Anyone who thinks following Jesus is boring never tried it.

Good rah-rah take that hill kind of book. But he is right on with the idea that we should not conform to religious culture. What would the church look like if we took away the safety net and lived for Jesus no matter the consequences? I dare to say...very different.

This was a really good book, encouraging Christians to step out of the passive, comfortable faith and live lives worthy of the calling to follow Christ. It reminded me a lot of Wild at Heart by John Eldridge, which is definitely a compliment! Definitely a good book to check out. Also, a rather short read.
