Friedman is a talented writer, but extremely one sided. He does a good job trying to convince us that we, as readers, can fully understand difficult issues such as terrorism, madrassahs, and the over-blown burqa... without realizing that all these issues cannot possibly be understood without considering the cultural and religious contexts surrounding them! Because it is what it is, a collection of columns for the Times, it becomes repetitious. Lots of good insight though. Not as groundbreaking as Lexus or Beruit but very good stuff. Sort of the contractual obligation album of Tom F.
