Artemis Fowl

This book is very possibly my favorite book of all time. A fantastic beginning to a fantastic series! A must read for EVERYONE. :)

Didn't really like it much. It is a children's book, but wanted something like this so read it and was ok.

The story is very creative, interesting and easy to read. Also liked the fact that it is based on folklore. I think that E.Colfer did a great job by giving the LEP characters some technology and combat skills and not just simple magic or fairy dust. I read a lot of kid's books because I do a lot of book fairs and want to be able to tell the kids what the books are about and what they are like. I read a lot of kid's books because I do a lot of book fairs and want to be able to tell the kids what the books are about and what they are like. I read the first Artemis Fowl book and absolutely hated it because Artemis was such a little fink. A friend suggested that I read the next one, and so I did. Needless to say, I got hooked and read just about all the books from the series-Artemis redeemed himself through the next few books and I now really do like the stories.   hide

What a great book! In fact, this whole series of books is amazing! I've been borrowing them from my friend Natalie, as I own the third book, and she said she'd lend me the first and second because 'It was driving her crazy that I didn't read them before I starting the third'. At the time I had no idea that there were others in a series. So, I started reading the first one, and I was just drawn to the book everytime I glanced at it. It's an amazing story about Artemis Fowl, a 12-year-old boy genius, discovering the secrets of the 'People' (underground fairies) by tricking an old sprite into allowing him to read 'The Book' (the fairy bible). Artemis photographed all the pages, and brought them back to the Fowl Manor to examine the codes. From there, it was an exciting trail of intelligent plans and schemes.   hide

Wonderful family reading, with a totally new perspective on faeries

Hilarious, tongue in cheek young adult fantasy- one of my favorite things.
