I gobbled this book up, definitely enjoyed it the most out of the series. It is a page turner, the urgency builds as they go to war and Frodo gets closer to destroying the ring. I never would have thought this, but everything in the movies is straight out of the books, even Aragorn and Arwen's love story. Of course, there is a Lot more in the books that is not in the movies, such as backstories...more

The conclusion of "Lord of the Rings," and I might add, that is has the most unique ending of any book I have ever read. When the Hobbit army rises up against Saruman, I almost died from glee, and when Frodo got on the ship with the Elves, I cried...and still do. A grade, one to treasure over and over again.

I love reading the books because you get a much deeper understanding of the characters and what's going on in their heads. My husband and I read this one together on a 2 week break to the canary Islands. There was no TV and so we just read to each other in the evenings.

It's Tolkein's book, why would you even need to think about reviews? Just read it. The ending was pretty lame and deserved to left out of the movie, you can just glance over that minor bit and feel better for it.
