First read burroughs when I was a teen. Remember the visceral imagery of his writing and at the time the sheer shock and excitement of something new.

Naked Lunch, Nova Express, The Wild Boys & The Ticket that Exploded are four books in a series of Bill Lee's exploits through the Interzone.  If you can get them from Grove Press, do it.  Better if you buy local and used too.

Do not come into this book expecting a coherent plot. Burroughs doesn't care about that. You'll find snippets of anal sex with aliens, electrically stimulated orgasms, and hangings along with linguistic experiements. Burroughs uses this novel to explore his cut-up method: randomly reordering sentences, infusing them with songs, etc.
