more I loved this book in the early 80's. It informed my view of the world and how women are treated. I recently re-read it and found some parts truly hilarious. There is no way my daughter could take some of this book seriously- the Playboy Club story and the depiction of woman in the 1968 presidential campaign seem like they happened on another planet. Even though we have made so much progress it saddens me to see how, in many ways, we have gone backward. We can laugh at the Playboy Bunnies of 40 years ago but the portrayal of women in the media is probably more destructive today than it was when Gloria wore bunny ears. This book works as a history of the women's movement and as a benchmark for how far we have come and how far we still have to go.
