It gives you a different view on the Afghanistan stories you get in the news. Even though it is fiction I still think it partially shows the other side of the war.

Marvellous book.Detailed look at life in Afghanistan, so well described by Fawad..didnt expect so much fun reading this book when i picked it up.. Fawad is such an entertaining character. This book although tragic made me laugh all it through !

Yet anothering amazing book to read. This is like the 10th book I've read relating/pertaining to the plights of the people in war-torned Afghanistan. Be it during the Russian, Taliban occupations or even civil wars with Pakistan and amongst their tribes. My heart goes out to the women, especially.. their preseverance and vigilance standing strong and proud alongside their children. My...more

this book seemed to be a lil more interesting than it was ... some of the terminology escaped me and was not explained but overall it is not a bad read.. just a slow one!

Ok story, but, having read many books about Afghanistan, it was hard to believe the main character. The book was obviously written by a Westerner with a Western perspective on Afghan culture. I probably wouldn't recommend this book to others.

Life in post-Taliban Afghanistan recounted through the eyes of a young boy, this was an easy and fun read. The overall tone was rather light but as may be expected given the protagonist although I wondered how realistic the sunniness and resilience of the main character was; having no direct experience with Afghanis or the country herself, I really cannot say but the tale may be enjoyed in itself...more
