Simply amazing. Although some aspects of America are grossly exaggerated, Kafka paints a fairly accurate portrayal of the major aspects of Amerika (such as immigration and an immigrant's journey through America). What impresses me even more is that fact that Kafka has not set foot in America. It is a must read.

Kafka's best work. Never has the American spirit been captured better, and he never set foot in the country. A true masterpiece.

Lessor Kafka is a lesson in style over substance.

Although the book remains officially unfinished (it seems Kafka had not fully completed and edited the last few chapters) there is, definitively, a resolution to the story in the last chapter. It might not be an obvious one, but all the signs are definitely there! Come on, what...more

Couldn't finish it. The language and attitude was an enormous turn off. There is novelty to be found in Kafka's near 'sci-fi' approximations of new life in North America, but his intoned ignorance and my own misconceptions of the time period were more frustrating than novel. Closeted and overwrought.
