imperialimo europeus do século XIX do maior flagelo da HIstória
humana: os regimes totalitários, tanto na versão nazista quanto
comunista. Algo que surpreende é a profunda similaridade e

A little dated with its talk of the bourgeoisie and proletariat, but many of the concepts in the Imperialism and Totalitarian sections are very relevant

I can't recall the last time I ever came across a book which contains so much concentrated original thinking on such a vital subject.  A deeply impressive book.

Great book explaining racism (esp antisemitism), nationalism, imperialism, tyranny, and totalitarianism. Eye opening. Did leave me seeing totalitarian leanings in many of Bush's actions as well as in Pol Pot, Idi Amin, bin Laden?, and possibly others. I definitely want to go through it again and read related works.

It's not just an historical account of facts. It analyze the totalitarian concept as an human phenomenon present in our society. Those totalitarians movements during the past denied the ability of thinking in a different way. It is gradual process of human rejection, death and destruction. Knowing the totalitarian pattern, it will be easier to identify them in our current society. As Hannah Arendt said “Under conditions of tyranny it is far easier to act than to think”   hide
