Interesting book, concerned more about environmental awareness and paints a picture on how and why "water wars" may not be in the so distant future.

A must read. There is considerable noise regarding our world's changing water supply. Pearce presents an amazing review of the challenges. An outstanding book, clearly documenting the world's current and potential water crisis. Every chapter brought a new aspect of the problem to light. Every chapter drove home how accute the problem is. Very well written! A must read.

water really is our most valuable and abused resource. this book just reinforced my "anti-dam" philosophy. It's a very sobering book-water is affected everywhere in the world not just the driest places

This book is hard to read because it's so goddam depressing. It's hard to believe how thoroughly people have stuffed up the world's rivers. Read this book and you will lnever look at a dam the same way again.

This honestly has to be one of the most interesting non-fiction books I've read. Interesting yet terrifying. I guess that's why I'm thoroughly enjoying the book.

Good overview of global water crisis. So frightening, I don't know where to put it in my head. If you live on this earth, consider this book mandatory reading.

One of several must read books in the category "Planet Science for the 21st Century"... Pearce takes us around the globe, describing dozens of major rivers that have been transformed by humans from healthy to ill to dead and dry. Factual, evidence based, splendidly told... No happy news here, just a sobering wake up call, with a glimmer of hope at the end, if we take heed.

Like the air we breathe, nature's gift of water that we depend on is largely taken for granted ... especially when you consider that the human body consists of a major percentage of water. This book presents a sobering discussion of the environmental crisis in the abuse and misuse of water resources. It reads a bit like a textbook at times, but the message resonates powerfully.
