Dude, this is one of those series that everyone should read, and I mean everyone! Nominally, it's about four children who run away to escape their so-called 'mean' grandfather, and end up, through a series of adventures (including that of living in a boxcar) that results in a very happy ending and a thriving series. Dude, this is one of those series that everyone should read, and I mean everyone! Nominally, it's about four children who run away to escape their so-called 'mean' grandfather, and end up, through a series of adventures (including that of living in a boxcar) that results in a very happy ending and a thriving series. I really, really loved this series when I was a kid, and I still love it. One notable thing was how self-sufficient all four children were without being goody-two-shoes. I can't quite describe it, but seriously, they're like healthy crap without being crap.   hide

Read these books as a small child. I actually read ALL of them. fantastic read for anyone

As a child my mother would read this book to me. It is a GENUINELY a good book, and still provides the innocense that is lacking in todays literature.
