this book is one of the stories that got me interested in the holocaust. i had to read this book for a class in school, but i had already read it before, so the second time round i paid attention to detail and was inspired to write one of my longest poems and most emotional poems from Erika's last letter to Gerda. The story touches my heart and there will never be another like it.

A Holocaust survivor story with a fairytale ending. This book is beautifully written, and one of the rare accounts of a female survivor. So very inspiring.

A really good Holocaust survivor book. It is an inspirational story. Gerda Klein has ties to Buffalo NY and talks about it in this book. I highly recommend reading it.

Makes you grateful for everything that you have in your life. I can't believe that humans had to endure this.

Heartbreaking true account of a young Jewish woman in a labor camp who was one of the few that survived the death march.

This is an amazing story! Seeing what Klein went through during the holocaust was heart wrenching, but at the same time she kept faith and believed throughout the whole book.

It was so incredibly well-written, my brain thought it wa reading a fictional story. However, this book is anything but fiction. It tells the story of a teenage girl in a German concentration camp. I would not recommend this to anyone under the age of...more

Really moving book. I cried a number of times but was absolutely compelled to read it from start to finish. It will stay with you for a long time to come and in my opinion is something every person should read.
