As with many MANY of my friends, I'm a huge Orson Scott Card fan and have pretty much ready every single one of his books (even his novels that are unsubtle Mormon evangelizing) but this little read novel of his is still my absolute favorite of his works. It's an alternate history of Christopher Columbus landing in the West Indies and makes for an amazing blend of history, sci-fi, and a wonderful examination of the follies, morality and clash-of-cultures... Just a fantastic read... I encourage everyone to read it...   hide

Alternate History-fiction. Enjoyed immensely. Mr. Card is excellent story and Character author.

My other Fav of Orson's then.What to say ...the other reviewers said it already..a fascinating alternate history, maybe on of the best there are because of its theme.So many people wich they had Card talent for characters and historic visions.shame is a republican lol

On back to back Orson Scott Card books, I recently read Pastwatch: the redemption of Christopher Columbus. A sci-fi alternate history type tale of a group of ethnographers who are able to see into the past for their research.
