I think I once again found this book to be better than its predecessors. I found it very interesting how he turns this journey into one that is not unlike that of Torah tradition. I think Card may have even used this novel as an attempt to explain some of the odd (and downright unfair) practices we might see while reading the Torah. I really appreciated how Card characterized Nafai and his brother Elemak. In so many ways, I can fully relate to Nafai. I felt that in a lot of ways, I could truly see myself in Nafai. Maybe that is why these books have interested me so much and also why Card is a good writer. As I start the fourth book of the saga now, I look forward to answering many of the unanswered questions that have lingered for so long. Who or what is this "Keeper of Earth?" And, who or what are these "rats and angels" that the Keeper keeps having people dream about? Oh, on a side note, one of the characters turns out to be homosexual. When I first came across this, I was a bit worried because I though this might some how degenerate into a propaganda tool. However, the way it was handled was well done and I found nothing to be offensive and I even came to really value this particular character as such an integral part of the story.   hide
