Okay this book is GOOD. Better than the pod people one, not so much because the story is better, but because the writing is leaps and bounds ahead of the writing in the other story. Anyone remember the name of that one? Something about Body Snatchers.

Have no idea why this book ranked so highly in the Top 100 Sci-Fi books list. The story's nothing special. The triffids are an unnecessary plot device. I see no point in them at all unless they are suppose to symbolise some environmental agenda. Overall, after the excellent "Th Chrysalids", this books was a real letdown for me from this author.

A fantastic (if a little brisk) detailing of the fragility of modern society. If you're a fan of apocalypic (zombie or otherwise) stories, or science-run-amok yarns like Jurassic Park, you'll probably get a big kick out of this. It's a everything speculative fiction ought to be.

Baie goed geskyf. Dis moeilik om te glo dat die datum 1952 is. Dit lees soos 'n moderne Sci-Fi riller. Die outeur was so bietjie voor sy tyd.

Wyndham is a brilliant "quiet" sci-fi writer. You won't be overwhelmed by explosions and tanks, but you will get a very good, involving story. This is an "end-of-the-world" type story that deals a bit more with the sociology than some. If your nervous, it completely lacks the dumb ending of the movie. Well worth the time to read.

A classisc - one of the best written and most convincing sci fi I have ever read. This is one of those stories about the vulnerability of modern day complex and seemingly invulnerable society - and teh erosion of our basic survival skills! Stephen King's "Cell", follows in this mode. A great read!

Silly sci-fi creatures but a very fun read nonetheless. Post apocalyptic settings are always fun to contemplate and get lost in, especially when killer plants are involved.

Interesting end of the world story, once you get past some of the old fashioned, sexist ideas.
