Very emotional. But not in a crappy, manipulative way, as some depict it. A skillful and talented author, like Mr Gross, does not allow emotions to overshadow his judgment, nor does he need to resort to manipulation and slanted writing, which I didn't find in it so far. That's one of the many things, that make this book valuable.

What's really interesting (and scary) is to read the comments on Amazon.

Jan T. Gross does an excellent job portraying continuing anti-Semitism in post war Poland and giving the reasons why acts that could otherwise only be believed to have happened during the war happened long after the fall of the Third Reich. With the exception of reading, at times, like a textbook the book was very informative and shocking.
