A brillant read. Informative and captiviting at the same time. The writing is superb. The behavior of the Japanese military in WW2 was fascinating and puzzling. If you get the time pick this up.

Fairly decent view of the Pacific War.The only way the war could end was IF they got nuked, otherwise, their pride would have prevented them from surrendering, and we'd have had to kill every single Japanese citizen and soldier.

Mostly from the Japanese perspective, this lends a unique and detailed look at the 'enemy' side of the Pacific theatre of World War II. It details such historic events as the loss and regain of the Philippines, the mass suicides of Saipan, the fierce fighting at Iwo Jima and the disintegration of Hiroshima and Nagasaki by atomic fire. Truly a historian's dream book.
