A great effort by Macmillan who has brought such historical facts in such a splendid manner that one really gets absorbed in the book. Both the leaders(Nixon and Mao) along with their counterparts (Henry Kissenger and Chon Elai) were great statesmen who have left a mark in the modern history. There is no such like personalities in the existing global village.

Unlikeable but fascinating men. Historical background throughout the book served well in highlighting the many layers of the significance and context of this meeting.

Interesting blow-by-blow account of how the Nixon administration engaged with the People's Republic of China. Personal foibles of Nixon and Kissinger are in full display, as are their unique talents. It's interesting to see how easily even Cold War realists can be taken in by charismatic personalities.
