This is a slender novel, and a quick read, but Ms. Nolan stays with you. I think about her, or I suppose the women...the women who have endured this most dreadful of losses. The author writes lightly, delicately... managing to capture the strength of her marriage - highlighting the highs and the lows...she's elitist, sometimes bitchy, but she loves her husband - there can be no doubt of that....more

Elizabeth Berg is a master at creating memorable characters. She does so again in this novel. The book had a great concept, but I felt like it was not explored fully. It felt kind of unfinished to me. If you are reading your first book by this author-skip this one and read "We are all Welcome Here" instead!

Great read! Like any awesome book, I miss Betta (the main character)now that i've turned the last page. Love the way Berg sees life, and writes with such freshness about everyday things. She makes you realize (again?) that like cannot be taken for granted....or you miss the magic.

I like everything Elizabeth Berg writes. It is very female I am sure. I doubt a guy would like it. She rights very beautifully. The way she words things is wonderful. I have read all of her books, I tried to pick a favorite or 2. I can’t. They are all good. -Tricia

This story ends before it ever begins. And the title doesn't reflect the content. It could be a really good story but I kept waiting to make a real connection with the title and then it was over.

OK. I do like the author's style of writing, but the ending was sort of blah. Brought me a new perspective of widowhood and becoming elderly, something I hadn't thought about much. Some good life lessons about friendship, loyalty, and the possibility of actually marrying a soul mate.
