MUST read for anyone who got into PC gaming in the early/mid 1990s. Awesome tale outlining the initial rise of id Software and the fall of Romero and the meandering career of Carmack.

One of the most inspiring books I've ever read. With some talent, hard work, sharp focus, lots of pizza, diet coke and fun, these guys created a new form of understanding gaming. Suck it down!

A heartfelt, personal look into the computer gaming industry of the early 1990s, but also a cautionary tale about the perils of mixing business and friendship. For Carmack/Romero fans (and anybody who played Doom and Quake out of the gate), this is essential reading.
