It's a great book to cuddle up with a cup of hot cocoa. Heart-warming story.

I love reading about dogs, he gets a little repetitive towards the end, but it was a great story.

A sweet story, if not particularly well-written. Katz is quite likeable. So are his dogs.

A reminder of how dogs will change your life, if you let them.

Cute book, I like his writing style, although I don't entirely agree with his views on raising dogs. It's humorous, I'm enjoying it.

I absolutely loved this book!!! It had me laughing out loud. Coming into the book with vast experience with dog training, especially herding dogs I was impressed not only by Katz's awareness and appreciation of his canine companions, his ability to understand and work with them but also his talent to write about it all so eloquently. A great and enjoyable read for anyone!

I read this book in one sitting, staying up until 3:00 AM to do so. It reminded me of James Herriot's books--"All things great and small", etc. However, unlike the books by the kindly Yorkshire vet, the author shares some of his 21st century angst. Katz and his dogs' (and donkeys') stories show how caring for animals can help us get over ourselves.

I don't think I'm going to read a book I really like this year. It's fine, it has good moments that are touching and make you think fondly of dogs you have had/known, but it's also very condescending and holier-than-thou at a lot of times, he criticizes people for being too obsessed with their dogs, when he's left his wife in New Jersey and moved 200 miles away to herd sheep with his dogs.Pot,...more
