more I read this book last summer. I liked it more for the Persian literature it introduced me to. I thought that it was good for her to open up about her personal experiences, especially coming from a culture that discourages talking about private matters. If people keep silent about things all the time, then very bad problems such as the problem of sexual abuse she wrote about will be ignored and hurt the lives of anyone who has to endure it. er mother was a particularly difficult person, but she may have had issues that had gone undealt with. I did like her father's romanticism and love of poetry. It was a book that gave a glimpse into Iranian life, which I also can appreciate. I liked it better than 'Reading Lolita In Tehran".
