In the Company of the Courtesan

A bit racy but wonderfully-written historical perspective from an unexpected point of view. I read it in less than a week because it was so hard to put down.

It has been a while since I read a piece of historical fiction - this book reminded my of why I like the genre so much!

GREAT book! Set in Rome, then Venice, I really look forward to seeing these cities with my own eyes sometime soon!

Takes place in Venice, one of my favorite places to read about.

Slow start, but then really enjoyed the latter part of the novel. I love Venice so it was interesting to read about its history and from the dwarf's perspective. I like the way Dunant weaves mystery into her story, but I enjoyed The Birth of Venus and Sacred Hearts more. I think Sacred Hearts is written with greater skill and I was hooked from the start.

just beginning this book and i hope it is as good as i have been led to believe! TOO MANY BOOKS!

I didn't finish it before it was due back at the library, but that's okay because I did not care at all about the characters or what was happening in the story.

Not her best work; Birth of Venus was much better. The worst parts dwell on lengthy evaluations of feelings and overly long descriptions that tempt you to skip over them. The middle of the book is boring. Otherwise, pretty good.

OK but not great, I likely won't read another by this author
