As an avid reader of star autobiographies, this was by far the most well written one I've ever read. I could not put it down. I came upon it just curious to learn something about someone knew, and came out of it a huge fan. The amount of living this woman has packed into her nearly 70 years is absolutely amazing. I came upon it just curious to learn something about someone knew, and came out of it a huge fan. The amount of living this woman has packed into her nearly 70 years is absolutely amazing. I admire her courage -- her controversial political activism has been criticized for years and she still keeps it up [she p'wned vietnam and now she's back to p'wn iraq]. That takes guts. Simply amazing and I cannot speak too highly of this book. hide
This has to be one of the greatest book of my life, i felt so much inside myself during the time i spend reading it, i believe Jane Fonda it is such an outstanding person and i found myself over and over again with the help of this book, i took with me so many lessons out of it and i still treasure them, i advise everyone to read it as it is a real pleasure.
Brave, wise, generous, compassionate writing. It's astonishing how much a bellweather Fonda's life has been for her generation. All you could ask from a autobiography, and yet something things still go unsaid, one senses, tantalizingly.
I am enjoying this book more than I thought. Her writing is easy to read and puts me back to the days when life was so complicated. Her absolute honesty with respect to her struggles as a woman and especially a woman in her walk of life makes this a good read for anyone. I am enjoying this book more than I thought. Her writing is easy to read and puts me back to the days when life was so complicated. Her absolute honesty with respect to her struggles as a woman and especially a woman in her walk of life makes this a good read for anyone. She is a woman to admire and although I'm only at the beginnings of her relationship with Tom Hayden the Vietnam years were very powerful and as a Canadian I found her dissolutionment with her country interesting but it was a common theme at the time. How nice to think that life is such an interesting journey that we all take. I like Jane Fonda and for this I was surprised. hide
A long book, with some chapters you can skip through but others where your eyes are glued. Interesting book. Provides a good insight to American history, culture, Hollywood, fame and men.
Well i never thought i would find Jane Fonda interesting but I was wrong. The book covers her steps to stardom and her immensely complex and soul destroying relationship with her father.A highlight is the On Golden Pond chapter and her time spent with the fiesty Kathryn Hepburne.
Fonda has led a colourful, chameleon-like life that this book is bursting with anecdotes and episodes. Could have been a smoother read and a little tighter, but it's her changing personas, from young, Hollywood starlet to anti-Vietnam War radical to present-day born again that is compelling.
