A few time the details are too much, but overall, you forget you're reading a historical account because it begins to feel more like a good novel.

This is an intriguing story about two sisters who open what is to become the most infamous brothel in Chicago in the early 1900's, the Everleigh Club. The story of the club is intertwined with the story of the fight against prostitution and vice in Chicago around the same time. It's an interesting book that reads like a novel. It reminded me a lot of "Devil and the White City"...more

A bit boring and too political. I had a hard time keeping interest in it.

Some interesting history, but hot a bit boring and slow at times. (And who would think a book about prostitution would be boring?). I didn't learn a whole lot that I didn't know before, except for the white slavery issues. Okay read, but there are better books about Chicago's history than this one.

Hard to reveiew this, since it didn't really hold my interest long enough for me to finish more than a third of it. The historical facts it presented were interesting, just not really written in a style that held my attention
