One True Thing: A Novel

Not my favorite. A bit disappointing, especially after reading Quindlen's wonderful _Black and Blue_.

I have enjoyed everything I've ever read by Anna Quindlen, including her columns in Newsweek.

I liked this and was kind of surprised. I loved her collected columns but was underwhelmed by her first book. This one I felt was a beautiful portrayal of a family's intricacies and layers. Really well done, and I just happened to get it from a friend who died this past year.

I think this was a good book, and a good eye opener to improve relationships with families. I think Ms. Quindlen could haev exaggerated the role of the mother and the daughter a bit more to imply that overly generous people create "monsters"... This book is both heartbreaking and realistic in a way with with a twist of Freud on the side. You'll be thinking twice about what you want...more

I loved this book. I don't like all of her work, but this one touched me.

A twist at the end. A lot going on under the surface of this story.

: I loved this book for the part about marriage. I thought there were great insights in that dialogue between the dying mom and the daughter about husbands and marriage. Liked the movie too but hate Renee Zwellwigger.

Anna Quindlen is superb.
